New in Toneelhuis: Ateliers. Starting in the 23-24 season, a number of young theatre makers or theatre collectives will be working in Toneelhuis in addition to the permanent cohort of artists. In Kambala, our second playing area on the Eilandje, where Toneelhuis also has its costume and set studios, these artists can work for a month on stage in a professional environment. 

For these Ateliers, each year we will select, on the basis of prospecting and preliminary discussions, a limited number of relatively young theatre makers with a project for the large stage that we would like to support. In addition to an inspiring work environment, Toneelhuis offers specific guidance for each project and a financial contribution as coproducer. The finalized productions of these theatre makers will be presented in Toneelhuis at a later date. Through the Ateliers, Toneelhuis supports and guides up-and-coming theatre talent in close collaboration with other houses in the world of the arts.

In 2023-2024, Mario Barrantes Espinoza and Rosie Sommers and Micha Goldberg will work in the Ateliers of Toneelhuis on the performances Flesh can’t can’ t not’t ‘tis flesh h... and GERMAN STAATSTHEATER.
