For 20 years now, Mokhallad Rasem has been collecting personal notations on a daily basis, jotting down images that appear to him in his dreams or impressions that strike his fancy from the world around him – during the wars in Iraq, for instance, but also while making his way through Germany as an asylum-seeker, and later as a theatre-maker.
Now he is forging these shorter or longer notes in Arabic into one long, spoken poem. As for the visuals, there is only an empty bed on a floor strewn with papers and photographs: the concise starting point for a story which invites us to reflect on life and how we look at it.
