ALEXANDRA GILBERT

Alexandra Gilbert (16-08-1976) studied ballet at the Conservatoire de Paris and graduated from the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d'Angers-l'Esquisse in 1996. She worked on different projects / performances with Marion Lévy,Charles Cré-Ange, Christie Lehuédé, Joëlle Bouvier/Régis Obadia, Cyrill Davy, Christophe Haleb, Lionel Hoche, Xavier Lot...

Since 1999, she's highly involved in the projects of Serge Ricci (Partiellement effacé, Humor, Endless, a trilogy in deep collaboration with the musician Christian Fennesz, and recently Au Nombre des Choses, Vanishing Act). She assisted Serge Ricci on the creation of his solo Par Dessus Bord, 2006. In 2004, she joins Les Ballets C de la B/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in Foi. There she meets Erna Omarsdöttir who invites her in her project We are all Marlene Dietrich FOR, directed together with Emil Hrvatin. In 2005-2006, Alexandra also assists Erna Omarsdöttir and Damien Jalet on their duet Ofætt. In 2006, she dances in the duet Aleko, with Damien Jalet, that they create with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Still together, they create and perform another duet in the contemporary opera Il Cielo sulla Terra by Stefano Scodanibbio.
She took part in the Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui creation Myth.
In 2007 Arthur Nauzyciel invites her in L'Image. With the musician Kira Kira they create Turn On a duet based on improvisation, and Damien Jalet rights her the solo Venus in Furs, in relation with clothes from Undercover. In parallel, she creates costumes for dance and theatre productions.
